The library

To this end, work was done on the recovery and enhancement of volumes already in the library. In addition, there was a desire to act on accessibility, with the idea of making the Library more usable for a greater number of users, in order to promote reading and the benefits derived from it.

The Library currently houses manuscript documentation, ancient book collections, documentation of local interest, a section of literature and classical works, and also provides the necessary and important conditions for an activity of bibliographic materials enhancement.

The implementation of the present project must therefore be related to these premises, from which both the prominence the Library must enjoy in the local cultural economy and the awareness, widespread for many years now, of the inadequacy of the functional and organizational conditions made truly available to the community of scholars and, in a broader sense, to the citizenry, emerge clearly.

The goals of the Community Library

The overall objective of this project is to make the Paludi municipal library capable of qualifying as a effective linking tool between the demands of daily life, study, and cultural development, configuring itself as a fundamental garrison for the implementation of that continuing cultural education, throughout life, about whose necessity few now harbor doubts.

Therefore, the project pursues the following goals:

1. Promotes initiatives that strengthen the link between territories’ identity, culture and sustainable tourism;
2. Enhancement of cultural sites and resources with regard to libraries and historical archives;
3. Strengthen the cultural attractors found in major regional tourist destinations and ARS;
4. To implement interventions for the protection and enhancement of the library and documentary heritage, capable of raising the standards of provision of cultural services;
5. To encourage the development, dissemination and use of technological innovations and technical skills in the activities of protection, conservation, enjoyment and enhancement of cultural goods and services;
6. Networking cultural offerings and developing information systems that can foster greater knowledge and enjoyment.

In view of the premises previously made, gaining awareness about the importance assumed by the Municipal Library, understood as a guardian treasure chest of knowledge, is regarded as indispensable.
